The Kanchenjunga Park is situated in the North Sikkim District in the Indian state of Sikkim. It has an elevation of 1,829 metres (6,001 ft) to over 8,550 metres (28,050 ft) and has an area of 849.50 km2 (327.99 sq mi). It is one of the few high altitude National parks of India.
The vegetation of the park include temperate broadleaf and mixed forests consisting of oaks, fir, birch, maple, willow etc. The vegetation of the park also includes alpine grasses and shrubs at higher altitudes along with many medicinal plants and herbs.
The Khangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim is also surrounded by other mountain peaks of Talung, Pandim, Tent peaks, Narshing, Zemo, Siniolchu and others from all directions. The whole of the forest is covered with of mountains, dense forests, blossoming meadows and swift streams. The flora and fauna of this national park is diverse. Temperate broad leaved trees are largely seen in this forest. Oaks are commonly seen. You can also find coniferous forests, which include trees like fir, birch, maple, willow and alpine grasses. The medicinal herbs and plants are also largely available in this national park.

There are more than 550 species of birds that are found in this Khangchendzonga National Park. Some of the beautiful birds that are found in this forest are blood pheasants, satyr tragopan, green pigeon, snow pigeon, tragopan pheasant, Asian emerald cookoo, Tibetan snow cock, Himalayan griffon, lammergeier, impeyan pheasants, osprey, sunbirds and eagles. You can go for trekking along the Khangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim. The best time to visit this national park is April to May and August to October. You need to take special permission to get inside the park from the State Chief Wildlife. Bagdogra is the nearest airport, which you can avail while visiting the Khangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim. Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station, which facilitates the travelers coming to this park.
