Viet Nam - Top ten tourist destinations

Viet Nam has been predicted to be among top ten major tourist destinations in the world in the next ten years by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), according to a local newspaper.

The Shangbao newspaper described Viet Nam as being home to numerous convergent attractive characters such as ancient architecture, high mountains, beautiful waterfalls, sunny sea beaches and a cluster of wonderful places appealing tourists worldwide.

Many giant companies and hotel businesses around the world, including Accor, Starwood, Hyatt, Marriot hotel groups, have planned to invest in Viet Nam, the paper said, adding that they have negotiated or signed contracts with Vietnamese partners to build five-star hotels in the country.

Hotel owners have affirmed that Viet Nam is a peaceful and safe place where attractive oriental characters remain, according to a recent survey.

According to the WTTC, Viet Nam's oriental characters will attract tourists in the years to come. In the past, Hong Kong and Singapore were named as the two tourist destinations in terms of attractive oriental characters.

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Palawan

It boasts of the world's longest navigable underground river. This site is currently ranked number 8 on the list of New Seven Wonders of the World. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. The underground river is reputed to be the world's longest navigable. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right to the water's edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.
